We know most Brides want to capture their “perfect day” and “make/share or create memories” with their photographer and there is nothing wrong with that. Though, if you are one of those brides, you will probably not want to work with us, but feel free to continue reading. If your stomach turned a little bit because you had to read the words “perfect day” and “make memories” again, then you are probably going to fancy our approach to this wedding photography thing.

On our website, you will not find cheesy package names or engagement photos with matching shirts, only simple easy to understand pricing and package information. We are here for the slightly misanthropic Brides who do not want to deal with a pretentious cheesy photographer sticking a camera in their face the entire day looking for the “perfect shot,” and for those brides who do not want a photographer who reminds them of their Uncle Bob with his camera at every family event.

We are here for the Brides who understand nothing is perfect, and want to enjoy and welcome the inevitable mishaps of their wedding day. Let's be honest, photographs are one of the most annoying parts of the wedding day, however, your parents would be pissed if they didn't happen. We do our best to ease the pain, even if it takes a few drinks from the best mans flask (trust us, he has one). Our goal is to simplify the process of hiring a photographer, and to deliver a superior product in a realistic down-to-earth manner.

To put it simply, we are not wedding photographers. We are nationally published freelance photojournalists and commercial photographers wanting to offer our services to an industry flooded with sappy “smile and say cheese” bulls*** (we were told curse words were offensive).

At The Black Dress, we book a maximum of 25 weddings a year to allow ourselves time to work with our commercial and editorial clients. It also allows us to be more exclusive for the Brides we do work with. There are plenty of talented wedding photographers who could take great photos of your “special day”, or who only shoot weddings. We understand that, and want to work with Brides who are looking for something different and edgy. Our goal is not to “pressure sell” every bride who contacts us or to butter them up with promises of romance and whimsy in every picture, rather to finds Brides who fit with our exclusive unique style and cynical approach, and want reality rather than pretentious insincerity.

If you find these ideas offensive, then we are probably not the best fit. But, if you are attracted to the idea of realistic, down-to-earth photographers who will get the right shots without being the "creepy, annoying, guy with a camera,” please feel free to contact us.

If you have read all this way and don't want to work with us, we apologize for stealing three minutes of your life.
